Recently Southfields Learning Mentors arranged for the Cook and Eat Well Course to take place at Southfields. The FREE course which ran for 9 weeks gave our Southfields parents the opportunity to cook healthy meals using fresh ingredients. The aim of the course was to prove that eating a healthy and balanced diet can be easy, fun, cost effective and most importantly – tasty!!
The course covered a range of food topics through fun activities and games such as:
The reasons for 5-a-day
What is Healthy Eating?
Breakfast, Sugar and Portion size
Salt and Fat content in foods
Understanding food labels
How do we eat healthily on a budget?
The importance of water for a healthy diet.
Our parents really enjoyed the course, it gave them an opportunity to meet new people and share their own recipe tips and ideas.
