In the Spring term, new sessions are being delivered to parents face to face at Southfields Old School, or online, using MS Teams.
We have four types of courses for parents running in the spring term:
- Courses for parents called English in the Primary School and Maths in the Primary School are based on knowledge of the school curriculum. These sessions will enable parents to help their children with learning at home, by, for example, teaching them how to pronounce phonemes correctly, or how number lines can be used in early maths (see attached flyer).
- Another course for parents we are offering next term is called Positive Family Foundations. This is a parenting course based on the principles of Triple P, Thrive and Families Connect from Save the Children. We help parents to understand about building positive relationships with their children so home is a happy and calm place to be (see attached flyer).
- Our intergenerational course is an online Stay and Play based on School Readiness, suitable for nursery aged children and their parents / carers. The tutor leads activities for the children and their adult, such as craft, physical development games, mark marking/writing skills, sharing books and early maths. We use part of each session to explain a little around child development and the EYFS (see attached flyer).
- We also deliver Triple P courses for parents, which are available through referral to https://www.coventry.gov.uk/positiveparenting
