Southfields Primary Forest School

Forest School is an innovative educational approach to outdoor play and learning which allows children to become independent, resilient, reflective learners that are able to openly communicate and work in a team. Forest school offers children opportunities to achieve, develop their self-esteem and evoke a curiosity about the world around them. Children are encouraged to take controlled risks in order to achieve small but rewarding tasks, using their own personal learning style in order to succeed.

Our Forest School group has developed new skills by exploring Forest School over this term. They have made clay Hedgehogs, Lit fires (safely!), tasted s’mores , as well as discovered photo orienteering. They have also learnt to use a steel and flint to light cotton wool! Its been a brilliant half-term and we have lots more planned for the colder months!
